Painted and collaged paper backgrounds:

Using stencils, painted tracing paper, art bleeding tissue paper, custom writing, acrylic paints, water-soluble pastels, water soluble oil pastels, watercolors, inks, book pages.

 

This illustration is just a work in progress at the moment, but the background was created the same way, by collaging papers and adding paint.
